Heists in GTA VI: stores, banks, loot and money types
Robberies in GTA VI are more varied than ever: almost any store can be held up, big targets show a loot estimate on the map, and money splits into bank balance, cash and bagged loot that only counts once sold to the right fence.
Heists are the heart of GTA VI, and based on the Extended Look and hands-on sessions, they are more varied and flexible than in any previous entry.
What you can rob
Almost any store: gas stations, convenience stores, jewelry shops, banks and criminal compounds. Armored vans offer smaller hauls, and big targets appear on the map with a loot estimate so you can weigh risk against reward before going in.
No two jobs play out the same
Each location varies in entrances, security cameras, safe placement, staff and customers. Staff, guards and even customers can fight back. Even the smallest robbery demands interaction: emptying a gas station register means bagging the bills one by one. The getaway matters too: many buildings have several exits and police can set up a perimeter around the location in case you return.
The three types of money
- Bank balance: safe, managed with the BuckMe phone app.
- Cash: lost if you die or get arrested; better deposited at ATMs.
- Bagged loot: only becomes spendable money when sold to the right fence, specialized by category like cars or jewelry. Fences unlock through the story, so you can pile up valuable loot before you can sell it.
Money matters in the plot
At certain points in the story you need a specific amount to move forward: heists and activities outside the main plot are not optional, they are part of the game.
