GTA VI gameplay: everything confirmed
Everything known about GTA VI gameplay: two playable protagonists with separate criminal profiles, the Heat meter and evidence-based police chases, functional phone apps and heists at the heart of the story.
Grand Theft Auto VI’s gameplay mixes the series’ familiar core with new systems. This is what is confirmed between official material, the Extended Look and media preview sessions.
Two playable protagonists
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos are both playable, and the story is built around the couple: heists together, mutual cover and the option to split up to shake the police. Each has their own Criminal Profile, the system that judges how you commit crimes (from Professional to Psycho, with a hidden level that can become irreversible) and is not an honor meter in the Red Dead Redemption 2 style.
Police: the Heat meter
Wanted levels are no longer automatic: police only react if there are witnesses, alarms or trackers. The Heat meter shows what they know about you (footage, clothing, weapons, car) and each piece of evidence can be erased separately. Stars have colors with meaning, and the six-star level returns.
The phone as a tool
Apps have real functions: Waink scans cars before you steal them, BuckMe keeps your money safe, RydeMe gets you around Leonida and Snapmatic shows real-time NPC events.
World and activities
A whole state to explore: mud parties, car meets, Vice City nightlife, airboats in the Grassrivers, kayaking in the Keys and wildlife. The November 19, 2026 launch is campaign only: online comes later.
