GTA VI's file size divides fans: guesses range from 150 to 300 GB
With no official figure less than two months from launch, the community debates how much space the game will need: the most repeated estimates sit between 150 and 300 GB, and everyone assumes it will grow over time.
Less than two months from launch, Rockstar has still not said how big GTA VI will be. In that vacuum, the community has turned the file size into a weekly debate: in the most active forums, guesses range from 150 to 300 GB, and the most repeated comment is the same one: whatever the launch figure, it will grow.
The reference everyone uses is GTA 5: it arrived on PC at around 60 GB in 2015 and today, after more than a decade of GTA Online updates, sits around 100-120 GB. If GTA VI follows the same lifecycle - campaign first, online later - November’s install would only be the starting point.
There are optimistic voices too: part of the community trusts modern compression and the PS5’s SSD to bring the figure below what the pessimists fear. Nobody knows, because no official figure exists: neither the store listings nor Rockstar have published storage requirements.
The real number will appear when preloading opens, presumably a few days before November 19. Until then, any specific figure circulating is a guess, not news, which is why this piece is marked as partially verified.
